Discarded broken umbrellas resonate with something of the abject. They represent a disturbing aesthetic, like metaphors for broken bodies, like life paralysed and in peril. Between unsettling bio-mechanical hybridity and enterprising sculptural mechanism, they embody the abject and the sublime.
